Whiskey is by far the leading distilled spirit produced in America. It comes in many forms and varieties, Bourbon, Rye, Tennessee Whiskey, Corn and Wheat Whiskies, being the most notable. These different styles have their own set of laws and regulations regarding ingredients, distillation methods, proof, aging methods, barrel attributes and more. I will discuss those in greater detail in their own sections.
American whiskey, is all too often thought of coming from only Kentucky or Tennessee, but it is now being made all across America. From San Diego to Nantucket and from Alaska to Florida. It is produced by some of the largest liquor conglomerates and by small micro-distillers alike and we will discuss these in greater detail over the coming weeks and months.
